In-House Custom CNC Machining Services: Precision Aluminum Parts

Our custom CNC machining services pick up where sheet metal work leaves off. You send us a drawing or a CAD file, our engineers build a program around it in SolidWorks, and the part gets cut on one of our four-axis machining centers, CNC lathes, or our dedicated router for plastics. Every part gets checked on our CMM before it moves on, so what you get back matches your model.

WHY BUCKEYE

Why Choose Buckeye Shapeform for Precision CNC Machining

Checkmark

Tolerances Down to ±0.003"

Our precision CNC machining holds plus or minus three thousandths of an inch as a standard, depending on the design even tighter. Small holes, fine pockets, and fitted cylinders often fall outside what laser cutting can hold to spec, which is where our machining closes the gap.

Checkmark

CMM Verification on Every Job

Beyond a visual check from the operator running the machine, every part gets measured on our coordinate measuring machine to confirm it's within spec before it ships.

Checkmark

No Minimum Order

Whether you need one prototype or a run of several thousand, our four-axis centers and lathes handle both. We've built custom fixtures for one-off jobs and reused existing tooling for repeat orders, depending on what the part calls for.

Checkmark

Design Feedback Before You Commit

Our team reviews your drawing or model, flags anything that will drive up cost or cause problems in production, and recommends changes before the job is quoted.

Checkmark

Machined From Billet, Finished In-House

We're not a machine shop that only cuts metal and ships it out for everything else. When CNC machined parts need powder coat, hardware insertion, or another finishing step, it happens in the same building, on the same schedule.

Checkmark

Built to Absorb Rush Orders

Our production schedule runs across multiple work centers with built-in redundancy, so when a rush job comes in, we can shift capacity without stalling everything behind it.

Our standard is plus or minus 0.003 inches, which is typical for four-axis work. For certain features—especially small holes or cutouts too fine for our laser to hold tolerance on—CNC machining is more precise than laser cutting, even though laser cutting is generally the faster, more efficient process for larger patterns.

Aluminum CNC machining is what we run most often, but we also machine steel and, on our dedicated router table, plastics. Material choice usually comes down to the application and whether it needs to pair with a finish like powder coat afterward.

No. We’ve run jobs for a single part ranging all the way up to jobs for several thousand. What changes is the setup: a new program typically takes three to four weeks to release into production regardless of order size, and larger runs may go through a first article inspection with the customer before full production starts.

At minimum, we need a 2D drawing or a 3D CAD file. We’ll review it for manufacturability and let you know if anything in the design should change before we quote it.

Yes, as much as our schedule allows. Because we run machining alongside laser cutting, forming, and finishing, we can often shift work between centers to accommodate a rush job without pushing every other order behind it.
