When a power filter manufacturer aimed to develop a circuit board that exceeded its customer’s expectations, it needed a custom enclosure that met the product’s specifications and tight timeline. It chose Buckeye Shapeform for its expertise and complete, in-house capabilities.
Genisco Filters, a power filter manufacturer for a variety of electromagnetic and radiofrequency interference problems, needed to create a control box to house a data transmitter that allowed wireless downloads of multiple sensors at one time. The design and package solution required a special size to fit the components perfectly, and it had to be completed within an extremely short period of time.
“We were involved in a project that had all of the signs of potential failure,” said Mike Sandvig, Product Engineer at Genisco Filters. “The customer provided a design that needed extensive modifications with a very tight budget.”
Buckeye Shapeform transformed its E Series enclosure to meet Genisco’s specific needs. The extruded aluminum case offers superior strength and protection in a compact, lightweight package. As with any enclosure, Buckeye was able to customize it with hole punching, machining and custom finishing. The engineers at Buckeye Shapeform also developed a custom gasket for aid in environmental control.
Previously, Genisco used a Chinese supplier, but Buckeye’s customer service team made the transition to a domestic supplier easy and smooth. Buckeye Shapeform distinguished itself from other domestic enclosure manufacturers by providing an extra level of support—regardless of order size, time constraints or customization requirements. Conveniently providing Genisco with one point of contact, Buckeye helped shorten lead times, effectively communicate updates and expedite deliveries.
“Our Buckeye Shapeform representative responded to all of our needs and personally took the time to make sure everything was done on time, even early when we pressed,” said Sandvig.
In the end, Buckeye Shapeform delivered a quality product that met all of the customer’s needs, and Genisco was completely satisfied. The end user was also thrilled with the look and overall price point of the product.
“The service and product was so good we recommended them to our parent company, and it now uses Buckeye as well,” said Sandvig. “We no longer think of Buckeye as only a supplier; they are a partner.”
